Job description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Full Time Sous Chef to join the PLG team at Highways in Springvale . You'll oversee daily operations, manage kitchen staff, and ensure consistent food quality. If you're ready to step into a leadership role, this is a great opportunity for you!

Highways is located in the hub of suburban south-east Melbourne on the perimeter of Ladbrokes Park (Sandown Racecourse). Featuring a family-friendly bistro with a designated kids play area, great service and a relaxed atmosphere making it the perfect dining experience for all to enjoy. Along with an extensive modern menu with daily specials, Highways caters to both children and adults alike.

What will my duties include?

  • Support the Head Chef in managing and training a diverse kitchen team.
  • Implement and manage Food Safety Plans.
  • Prepare and cook menu as per cooking guidelines and set standards.
  • Work in conjunction with the Head Chef to develop and implement menus.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ensure all food safety procedures are being followed.

What we are looking for :

  • Hold a Certificate 3 or 4 in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
  • Food Handlers Certificate.
  • Experience working in a pub / bistro fast-paced environment.
  • Well-versed in all kitchen areas with hands-on experience.
  • Ability to follow and give directions when required.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Full working rights in Australia.
