Job description

This cosy dining inn in Romsey is looking for a Sous Chef to join their team.

With a great dining reputation, you will be working with fresh ingredients to prepare home cooked dishes for the customers.

Responsibilities of the Sous Chef:

  • Directs food preparation and collaborates with Head Chef.
  • Helps in the design of food menu.
  • Produces high quality dishes, including both design and taste.
  • Oversees and supervises kitchen staff.
  • Assists with menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies.
  • Ensures the food is top quality and that the kitchen is at an EHO standard of 5.
  • Keeps stations clean and complies with food safety standards.
  • Offers suggestions and creative ideas that can improve upon the kitchen’s performance.
  • Prepares food to the Head Chef's standards.
  • Trains new employees.
  • Monitors and maintains kitchen equipment.
  • Solves problems that arise and seizes control of issues in the kitchen.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients and procedures.
  • Management skills.
  • Familiarity with industry’s best practices.
  • Leadership.
  • Creativity.
  • Time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle pressure.

Experience:

  • Sous chef experience for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Food Safety Level 2.
