Job description

Location: Lilleshall National Sports Centre

Contract Type: Permanent

Operational hours: 39 hours, various shifts, 6am to 2pm, 7am to 3pm and 1pm to 9pm, 5 out of 7 days and weekend working required for functions and events.

Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum + available overtime and excellent benefits

Here at Lilleshall, our goal is to get more people, more active, more often. We provide affordable access to a wide range of sports and leisure facilities to support healthier and happier people across all segments of the local community. To deliver those services takes an enthusiastic and customer-focused team - and right now we are looking to recruit a Sous Chef to join the centre.

As the Sous Chef, you will lead in our restaurant lunch and dinner provisions and events offerings at Lilleshall and work as part of the kitchen team to deliver a world-class experience, ensuring that our customers are valued and their satisfaction and recommendation to others is paramount.

The primary function of this role is to develop/run a new dining restaurant offer for Lilleshall. Menu development will be needed, and you should have a history of developing menus. The role will also involve taking a lead on weddings and hospitality events, ensuring they are delivered to the highest standard possible.

When not working on restaurant and hospitality events, you will be part of the site's wider catering operation and be required to cook in bulk for a dining room operation for hotel guests. These guests range from sports to corporate guests. Lastly, you will support the executive chef with consistently reviewing colleague performance and training, scheduling of resources, stocktaking, and maintaining GDPs.

You will help facilitate a safe, fun, and professional working environment with free access to the leisure facilities, various discounts, and excellent development opportunities.

About You

We are looking for someone who is fully flexible to cover mornings, evenings, and weekends for weddings, functions, and site requirements.

The successful candidate will be a passionate and enthusiastic individual who, like the members of staff at Lilleshall, prides themselves on giving the best service possible for those who visit the centre and goes the extra mile for customers when required.

You will have experience of leading/managing a kitchen and chef team in a hospitality and restaurant environment, and it is desirable that you hold formal/relevant chef and food safety qualifications.

We are a unique business as we host elite athletes, weddings, and high-profile business professionals. Due to the nature of our business, this role can offer a great work-life balance.

If you feel you meet the above criteria and want to work in a challenging and varied role, please apply today.
