Sous Chef

The Crown Martley is a brand new venue opened in March 2025. Following the hugely successful launch, we are looking to further strengthen our team with a passionate and ambitious Sous Chef to join the team.

Purpose of the Role

The Sous Chef will lead the kitchen staff during the Head Chef's absence, guiding and supervising the junior kitchen staff during food preparation and assisting the Head Chef in menu preparation.

We are The Crown, a multifaceted hospitality venue providing a Restaurant, Bar, Café, and Rooms in Martley, Worcestershire. We pride ourselves on providing memorable experiences for anyone that visits, serving the best quality local produce and providing an atmosphere that has people planning their next visit before they have left.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Documenting each morning what the Head Chef requires before they prepare the day's dishes.
2. Cleaning and organising the food preparation area for the Head Chef.
3. Delivering the ingredients that the Head Chef needs to prepare to the food preparation area.
4. Ensuring the Line and Prep Cooks prepare the dishes according to the Head Chef's specifications and standards.
5. Training new kitchen employees on the restaurant's standards and regulations.
6. Addressing and resolving diners' and clients' complaints quickly.
7. Monitoring the kitchen area and the staff to ensure sanitation standards are maintained.
8. Ensuring all food products to be prepared are not expired.

Qualifications & Skills

1. In-depth knowledge of the kitchen's routines and utensils.
2. Ability to grasp and follow the Head Chef's culinary instructions.
3. Knowledge of food preparation methods and presentation.
4. Knowledge of how to maintain and care for culinary utensils.
5. Diplomatic and conflict resolution skills.
6. Leadership skills.
7. Ability to work under pressure through rapid deadlines.
