Job summary

Castle Gardens Garden Centre is seeking a Sous Chef to work with the head chef, managing daily kitchen activities and helping prep and menu development.

You will oversee staff, ensure food quality and freshness, monitor stock, and contribute to cost-effective, high-quality dishes. The role requires creativity, service orientation, and a calm, team-focused attitude.

Qualifications

• Past work as a Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook.
• Food hygiene certification required.
• Strong communication and teamwork under pressure.
• Willing to adapt to new ideas and processes.

Responsibilities

Who we are

Castle Gardens provides a professionally run, warm and friendly destination, drawing many visitors to Garden Centre and The Walled Garden Restaurant.

You will be required to work alongside our head chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, monitoring and ordering stock.

Provide meal quality and consistency by following our wonderful recipes and be able to assist with menu creation.

You will work with the team to deliver high-quality and cost-effective dishes promptly.You will be creative, service-oriented, and level-headed.

What We Need

• Experience: Past work as a Sous Chef or Senior Line Cook.
• Skills: Great cooking talent and food hygiene certification.
• Heart: Good communication, a calm, positive attitude under pressure and the ability to work as part of a team. Adaptable to change and willing to embrace new ideas and processes.
