Job description

This award-winning, stunning hotel is seeking an exceptional and experienced Sous Chef to join and lead the kitchen team.

Role Overview

As Sous Chef, you will assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen, ensuring top-quality food, standards, and service at all times — and enjoy a 4-day workweek!

Main Duties
  1. Act as a deputy with all responsibilities as required.
  2. Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized environment at all times.
  3. Plan daily operations of all kitchen sections to meet service standards.
  4. Control operating costs with the Head Chef, including food ordering and stock management.
  5. Assist with stock takes and conduct quality checks on stock, produce, and dishes.
  6. Provide training and product knowledge to develop the team.
  7. Respond flexibly to business and client needs, offering support and guidance in difficult situations.
  8. Manage rotas based on business levels.
  9. Ensure food preparation meets recipes and specifications regarding size, quantity, and quality.
  10. Participate in relevant meetings to stay informed about hotel operations.
Requirements
  1. Previous experience in a similar role and environment.
  2. Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds 7061/7062 or NVQ Level 2/3.
  3. Experience with ordering systems and cost control.
  4. Hands-on team player with training and coaching experience.
