Job summary

Loungers is hiring a full-time Sous Chef for Croeso Lounge, a local café bar, part of the Loungers group. You will lead the kitchen, support the Head Chef, and guide a team through each service to ensure every dish leaves the pass proud and consistent.

We offer a competitive base salary with bonus, overtime, and clear progression opportunities. This is a permanent full-time role with a 48-hour contract (40-hour option).

Qualifications

• Experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Demi-Cuff role is listed as desirable.
• Proven leadership of kitchen teams and service from prep to final plate.
• Reliable and punctual with a hands-on approach to quality and hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Lead kitchen shifts with confidence, ensuring smooth service and meals that meet spec.
• Support the Head Chef and step in during their absence; help deliver strong results.
• Maintain high standards on the pass, focusing on quality, pace, cleanliness, hygiene and safety.
• Own key routines: prep, par, stock, waste, orders and shift handovers.
• Coach and develop junior team members to improve skills and outputs.

What you'll Do

• Lead kitchen shifts with confidence, keeping service smooth, organised and on spec from prep through to the final plate
• Be the Head Chef's right hand — supporting day-to-day operations, stepping up in their absence, and helping the kitchen deliver consistently strong results
• Set the tone for high standards on the pass, with a sharp eye for food quality, pace, cleanliness, hygiene and safety
• Take ownership of key kitchen routines including prep and par, stock control, waste, orders and effective shift handovers
• Coach and support the team around you, helping new and existing chefs build confidence, grow their skills and deliver great food every shift
