Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Sous Chef at Milton Court Care Home in Kents Hill, Milton Keynes. You will support the head chef to provide a nutritionally balanced, high-quality culinary service for residents within budget.

Lead a small team, prepare modified diets per IDDSI, and uphold the highest hygiene standards while ensuring staff understand the food safety system. DBS check required.

Qualifications

• Hold a relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent).
• Minimum of 1 year catering experience.
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to high-quality culinary services.

Responsibilities

• Prepare modified diets that are balanced and appealing within IDDSI guidance.
• Supervise and direct culinary staff as directed by Head Chef.
• Ensure high hygiene standards and compliance with food safety systems.
• Support culinary team in understanding Avery Food safety management system.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your focus asSous Chefwill be tosupportthe head chef in leading a culinary team that provides a nutritionally balanced, comprehensive,and high-quality culinary service, which contributes to the overall well-being of the residents and is achieved withinbudget.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

• Preparing modified diets that look appealing and are well-balanced and in accordance with IDDSI guidance.
• Supervising and directing the work of culinary staff, as directed by the Head Chef, providing instruction and demonstration to unqualified staff on simple food preparation activities.
• Understanding the principles of safe food handling to ensure that all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen meets the highest hygiene standards.
• Supporting all culinary team members in fully understanding the Avery Food safety management system.
