Grand Mercure Puka Park Resortboasts a majestic mountainside location atPauanui Beachon the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula on New Zealand’s North Island. The secluded luxury lodge is set amidst 25 acres of New Zealand native bush, on Mt Pauanui in theCoromandel Peninsula. Only two hours’ drive from Auckland, the Resort is known for itsdistinctive product, service, and outstanding hospitality.

As a Sous Chef, you will have the opportunity tobring your love of exceptional food & service to life, providing our guests amemorable experienceto match their surroundings at our resort at theaward winning Miha Restaurant. This is a full time position (40 hours per week).

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Managingthe culinary operations reporting directly to the Head Chef of the Resort, including supervising the culinary brigade and overseeing services.
  • Beresponsiblefor providing high quality dishes, fromconcept creation,preparation, cooking, right through topresentation, at thehighest standard.
  • Prepare and present menuitems showingvarietyandflair, delivering anexcitingandprofitableproduct.
  • Order, maintain and manage stockand par levels whilereducing wastage.
  • Assist inroster preparationand managing manning levels in line with budget requirements.
  • Maintain strictfood hygiene and safetyensuring all workstations are tidy and equipment is maintained, serviced, and cleaned in line with protocols and procedures.

Your Experience And Skills Include:

  • Three years or more of relevant work experience, or a trade qualification at level 4 or higher - ie Cookery or Hospitality (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).
  • Strong leadership skillswith the ability to provideguidanceanddirectionto a kitchen brigade.
  • Customer drivenfocus & apassionfor food.
  • Trade qualificationsand previous experience in a similar role having done a la carte service.
  • Working knowledge ofworkplace health & safetyprocedures & foodsafety standards.
  • Ability to work flexibly over a variety of shifts includingweekends, mornings & evenings.
