Sous Chef - High Wycombe
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: 36,647
Hours: per week

A private girls' boarding and day school in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, for students aged 11-18. Catering for approximately 1050 students and staff daily, offering breakfast, lunch, supper, AM and PM snacks across three feeding locations. The operation runs 7 days a week with a shift pattern of 5 days over 7. Free on-site parking is available.

We have an excellent opportunity for a creative and effective Sous Chef to join our team at this location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare all food service areas for daily meal service.
  • Ensure prompt and standard-compliant service of all meals.
  • Maintain preparation and presentation methods according to company standards.
  • Set up, serve, clear, clean, and store food, beverages, and equipment.
  • Prepare food following hygiene and safety standards.
  • Restock and replenish stocks during service to meet customer needs.
  • Inform front of house of any shortages or delays.
  • Perform cleaning and hygiene duties as required.
  • Serve customers, visitors, and guests in line with service standards.
  • Manage waste and recycling appropriately.
  • Assist with order preparations and placements.
  • Ensure kitchen compliance with health & safety regulations.
  • Leave kitchen areas clean after each shift.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions.
  • Notify the head chef of stock movements for upcoming menus.

General Responsibilities:

  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Wear neat and clean uniform at all times.
  • Maintain high personal presentation standards.
  • Conduct food temperature checks and other safety checks.
  • Perform reasonable requests from management.
  • Provide cover during staff absences as needed.
  • Report hazards and ensure health & safety standards are met.

Personal Skills and Attributes:

  • Teamwork, listening skills, initiative, personal hygiene, and presentation.
  • Food hygiene certification preferred.
  • Adaptability, reliability, honesty, and customer service focus.
  • Willingness to learn and take responsibility.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push moderately heavy items.

Knowledge / Competencies:

  • Good verbal and written English skills.
  • Experience in customer service or food preparation preferred.
