Job Title: Sous Chef
Location: Barton-under-Needwood, Burton-on-Trent DE13 8AA, Staffordshire
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
We’re on the hunt for a talented Sous Chef to join our ambitious new restaurant in Barton-under-Needwood, the latest opening from the team behind a Michelin Guide-listed, 3AA Rosette flagship venue in nearby Lichfield.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping a fresh and exciting site with serious culinary backing. With guidance from a team that has already earned national recognition, you’ll help drive forward a venue that’s rooted in quality, creativity, and genuine hospitality.
As Sous Chef, you’ll work closely with the Head Chef to oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, help lead and inspire a talented team, and deliver consistently exceptional dishes using seasonal, locally sourced produce. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a kitchen with standards and ambition — but also appreciates a supportive, down-to-earth environment.
Support the Head Chef in managing and motivating the kitchen team
Assist in developing and delivering menus that are both refined and accessible
Oversee prep and service to ensure consistency and high standards
Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen safety standards
Help manage stock levels, supplier relationships, and cost control
Train and develop junior chefs, leading by example at all times
Step up confidently in the Head Chef’s absence
Proven experience at Sous Chef level or strong CDP ready to step up
Background in high-end, quality-driven kitchens (rosette or Michelin experience a plus)
Calm, collaborative, and hands-on leadership style
Passion for seasonal British produce and modern cooking techniques
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Salary up to £40,000, dependent on experience
The chance to help shape a new restaurant backed by a prestigious parent site
Creative input into seasonal menus and development of the food offering
Supportive working environment with opportunities for training and progression
Staff meals, discounts, and performance-based incentives
Work/life balance considered, with structured rotas and supportive management
Be part of something new, with serious pedigree behind it.
If you’re ready to bring your skills to a team that values quality and ambition without the ego, we’d love to hear from you.
