The ideal applicant has over 2 years in culinary roles, preferably within a healthcare setting, and must demonstrate effective communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Chef.
  • IDDSI/Specialist diet provision experience is desirable.
  • Experience working in a care home is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare nutritious meals for residents in collaboration with the Head Chef.
  • Ensure food meets dietary requirements based on IDDSI guidelines.
  • Gather dietary needs for new admissions by liaising with nursing staff.

About The Role

Cornerstone Healthcare is looking for an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our award-winning team at The Burren. The Burren is a brand-new purpose-built service location in South Bristol, providing high quality care and supporting residents with varying complex neurological, mental health & dementia care needs, in a comfortable and safe living environment. Our approach focuses on individualised care, considering the whole person’s unique strengths and challenges, rather than just the diagnosis.

What do you need?
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Chef
  • Experience in a care home (preferred but not essential)
  • Understanding of COSHH, Food Hygiene and Regulations surrounding food safety
  • IDDSI/Specialist diet provision experience (desirable)
  • Experience working in a care home (desirable)
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
What hours will you work?

Shift times: 08:00 until 18:00

40 hours per week

What will you be doing?
  • Working closely alongside the Head Chef and kitchen staff to plan and prepare nutritious meals for residents
  • Ensure food is prepared in line with IDDSI guidelines and meets the requirements of the residents as identified by the clinical team
  • In the absence of the Head Chef visit all new residents or liaise with the Nurse to ensure all new admissions dietary needs are known
  • Listen to feedback from staff, residents and relatives about the food choices and quality and implement changes based on this

Residents who live in our homes primarily have a neurological degenerative condition such as Dementia with an underlying mental health condition which makes them inappropriate candidates for dementia care homes or residential care homes for the elderly.
