Overview

This is a unique opportunity to join a film school with a rich history and an unwavering commitment to practical filmmaking. You'll work 3 days per week and play a pivotal role in guiding aspiring sound recordists within the Filmmaking MA. The primary responsibilities of the Lecturer are to help plan, prepare and deliver teaching in sound production and recording for film productions, to deliver teaching and practical workshops and feedback on production sound elements within practical filmmaking exercises. You would be inspiring and supporting the next generation of sound acquisition for film professionals at one of the top film schools in the UK.

What you'll do
  • Plan, prepare and teach sound production sessions in line with course and module specifications, using a range of delivery methods.
  • Undertake formative assessment of student progress and performance and participate in summative assessment of students' sound work.
  • Involvement in student induction teaching and technical/equipment training. Attend cut screenings, crits, shoot support sessions to feedback and support student work in sound recording.
  • Stay up to date with current developments in sound recording and production within the film industry.
  • Extensive industry experience as a Production Sound Mixer / First Assistant Sound in film/high-end TV drama and Documentary, with significant experience of teaching sound recording for film (drama and documentary) at BA or MA level.
  • An understanding of storytelling using sound within film and a keen interest in working in the generalist film education model at BA or MA level.
  • A strong commitment to student development and mentoring around creative development of sound practice and storytelling both creatively and technically.
