Overview

Meta is seeking an experienced Interaction Sound Designer to join our innovative Creative Audio team. Our mission is to create meaningful experiences that enhance human connection through the power of audio. Your focus will be on shaping audio and haptic experiences. You will be designing interaction sounds for Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, Threads and our Wearables products. You will also work on our ads as part of your job. You will be responsible for helping to build brand recognition, and enhance the overall brand experience. As a Sound Designer, you\'ll be part of a team of highly skilled creatives from a range of experience and industries who are dedicated to crafting exceptional audio experiences. The role combines functional sound design thinking and execution with demonstrated experience innovating in new and virtual mediums. We are looking for candidates that have a solid understanding of sound design, its impact on people and their experiences, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of sonic experiences, including accessibility. You will also have experience with foley, voice over and mixing. You will be involved in all aspects of the sound design process, from concept to iteration and refinement, to preparing and implementing assets, to testing performance and approving designs for public release. In this role you will need to have experience working autonomously, as well as experience collaborating closely with team members and product groups while leading complex projects, across multiple platforms and mediums, through to completion. In this role you\'ll provide creative feedback and work closely with cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with partners across multiple areas of focus and disciplines to define the sonic landscape of a wide range of software and hardware experiences. Responsibilities
  • Craft unique, memorable, and iconic sonic experiences for the 3+ billion people who use Meta technologies
  • Drive complex interaction sound design + haptics projects through completion
  • Use your proven understanding of sound design to define and distill broad concepts into actionable deliverables
  • Contribute to the development of sound design systems by establishing audio design standards, guidelines, and best practices, while being one of the go-to experts for all things sound, including design standards, best practices, and implementation guidelines
  • Execute in a fast-paced and highly fluid environment
  • Collaborate closely with other sound designers to ensure systems alignment across products
  • Collaborate closely with all partners to determine scope of work, planning and execution of sound design and implementation
  • Influence key business decisions within the organization and product/ business area, leveraging clear data-driven decision making
  • Influence and create unique, memorable sonic experiences in order to maintain quality and leverage existing resources for product consistency and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain a consistent sonic brand identity across key Meta touchpoints
  • Give and solicit feedback from other sound designers in order to continually raise our bar for quality
Minimum Qualifications
  1. 8+ years creating UX sonic experiences for products in mobile, hardware, and non-traditional or immersive environments
  2. Demonstrated experience with Sound design and Interaction Sound Design in particular
  3. Experience creating original sound design for high-profile products or experiences
  4. Experience with sound design synthesis and latest plugins
  5. Experience in music production
  6. Experience working with Pro Tools and/or other professional DAW\’s
  7. Understanding of human-centered design
  8. Experience managing, scoping and communicating project milestones and deliverables
  9. Experience testing implementation of sounds
  10. Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  11. Time-management and organizational skills to meet delivery specifications and deadlines
  12. Understanding of Design Systems and systems thinking
  13. Understanding of haptics design patterns and principles
  14. Understand accessibility requirements
  15. Experience communicating effectively with technical teams and software developers to ensure seamless and efficient sound implementation
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Video editing skills (Premier Pro, Final Cut, Avid, etc.)
  2. Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD)
  3. Knowledge of acoustics, equipment set ups and calibration
  4. Experience mixing in a variety of mediums, such as mobile and spatial audio
  5. Experience in designing audio for Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality experiences
  6. Mobile audio experience
  7. Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal)
  8. Understanding of programming and technical sound paradigms in VR, AR, or other immersive mediums
  9. AR audio experience with AR design tools (Spark, Snap Studio)
