Job summary

DPD Group in the United Kingdom is hiring a Sortation Operative. You will unload, scan, sort and load parcels using state-of-the-art equipment, ensuring safe, swift hub operations and high service levels.

Contract is permanent, 40 hours per week, with an initial night shift learning period before moving to day shift; hourly rate £12.71 with overtime paid at enhanced rate. You will need physical ability to lift up to 25 kg and a focus on health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Unload, scan, sort and load parcels to ensure smooth hub flow.
• Monitor and enforce parcel compliance with size and weight regulations.
• Clear blockages promptly to maintain throughput and accuracy.
• Support hub KPIs and improve throughput and accuracy metrics.
• Escalate issues to management promptly.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
• Maintain a clean, hazard-free work area and adhere to Health & Safety policies.
• Support other areas during peak periods as required.

• Shift Pattern / Hours of Work:08:00 - 16:30 (For the first week you will be required to work our night shift starting at 23:0 to learn the operation and will then move onto the day shift)

Job Description

As a Sortation Operative you will find that no two days are the same, with state of the art sortation equipment and all the tools required to do the job, you will be required to unload, scan, sort and load our parcels, ensuring that their journey through our Hub is safe and swift.

This position plays a crucial part in ensuring DPD maintains its commitment to exceptional customer service.

Key responsibilities include:

Monitoring and policing parcel compliance in the hub, ensuring all items meet size and weight regulations.

Clearing induct and sorter blockages promptly to maintain smooth operations.

Working to improve Hub KPIs, including throughput rates and accuracy metrics.

Escalating issues to management in a timely and appropriate manner.

Utilising good communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and other departments.

Maintaining a proactive, positive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt to new processes.

Strictly adhering to company Health and Safety Policies at all times.

Supporting the hub operation as and when required, including assisting in other areas during peak periods.

Ensuring the work area is kept clean, tidy, and hazard-free throughout the shift.

Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to perform efficiently under high-pressure situations and strict deadlines

Physical capacity to lift, load, and carry items weighing up to 25kg on a regular basis

Some understanding of Health and Safety practices within a warehouse setting would be advantageous
