Job description

You will be an effective member of the Gynaecology Ultrasound team, providing high-quality Gynaecology Ultrasound services in an expanding Non-Obstetric Ultrasound Service, working autonomously in a community setting.

Initially, the role will be for 4 hours a day, with hours gradually increasing as the service develops.

Main duties of the job

Ensure the quality of Ultrasound examinations meets service standards, carry out scans efficiently, and minimize patient wait times while maintaining quality.

Job responsibilities
  • Assist other Sonographers in maintaining service provision.
  • Conduct quality control tests regularly and report malfunctions.
  • Ensure patient welfare and comfort at all times.
  • Collaborate with the Referral Management Centre to provide written reports to GPs within 2 days of appointments.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Postgraduate certificate or diploma in Medical Ultrasound, or equivalent international qualification.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years post-qualification sonography experience, working independently without direct support.
  • Performed and reported at least 900 ultrasound scans in the past 12 months, maintaining CPD compliance.
  • Meet the National Occupation Standards for imaging anatomical areas.
  • English proficiency at a level suitable for professional practice, with appropriate certification if English is a second language.
  • Registered with HCPC/SOR as a UK sonographer.

  • Possess a driving license, own a car, and be flexible with working arrangements due to the mobile nature of the role.
