Overview

Southend Private Hospital, part of Circle Health Group — Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare — is seeking a Sonographer to join their team. This is a bank role working on an "as and when required" basis, providing staffing support during busy periods and covering staff absences.

Duties of this role include:

• Participating in the efficient and safe operation of the Imaging Department, providing high-quality ultrasound services.
• Carrying out diagnostic ultrasound scans within your scope of competence, adhering to high technical and quality standards.
• Assisting in planning and maintaining workflow within the department.
• Completing departmental records and patient charges promptly.
• Contributing to Quality Assurance tests within the department.
• Participating in supervision, training, and peer review.
• Reporting equipment malfunctions and ensuring safe operation.
• Complying with department policies, protocols, SOPs, and mandatory training.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Broad sonography competencies aligned with the role.
• Experience in autonomous practice and independent reporting.
• Customer care experience, including handling challenging situations.
• Diploma in medical ultrasound (DMU) or postgraduate certificate/diploma.
• Ability to assess, scan, diagnose, report, and maintain accurate records.
• Understanding of safe clinical practice and associated responsibilities.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and ergonomics.
• Familiarity with IT systems such as RIS/PACS.
• Awareness of healthcare systems and professional codes of conduct.
