A leading reproductive healthcare charity is seeking an experienced Sonographer for its Birmingham unit to perform obstetric and gynaecological scans. The role requires a minimum of 1 year of experience post-certification and a client-focused mindset. You will support a team, mentor staff, and maintain high standards in ultrasound practices. This position offers competitive pay ranging from £52,000 to £60,000 per annum pro rata for 15 hours a week.

Qualifications

Are you a sonographer looking for a new role where you can use your specialist knowledge of obstetrics & gynaecology ultrasound?

We're looking for an experienced Sonographer to join our Clinical Teams working in our unit in Birmingham Central. This is for 15 hours per week on Mondays and Tuesdays.

As a sonographer at BPAS, you will be performing high-quality obstetric dating scans as well as gynaecological scans to assess for RPOC. The main focus of the role consists of early pregnancy/dating scans but also dating in the second trimester performing HC measurements to determine a gestational age & post-treatment checks.

About you:

You will be a qualified sonographer or registered Adult Nurse or Midwife but must possess a minimum Post Graduate Certificate in Medical Ultrasound qualification. You'll have a minimum of 1 years experience since the completion of your Post Graduate Certification and will be registered with a professional body, either the NMC or HCPC.

You'll be client-focused & someone who considers themselves a team player. As subject matter experts, you will be expected to advise, support & occasionally mentor BPAS Nurses or Midwives who have undertaken a basic CASE-accredited Ultrasound course, should they require a second opinion or input from a more qualified Ultrasound practitioner.

We are also looking for:

Experience of participating in audits

Ability to perform obstetric ultrasound examinations

Teaching and training experience

Main duties of the job

To ensure that high standards of Ultrasound scans are undertaken at BPAS

Support nurses and midwives by providing reassurance and practical advice surrounding Ultrasound scanning

Ensure that clinical policies and guidelines are adhered to at all times

Support the Lead Sonographer and the Ultrasound Facilitators in managing an effective Ultrasound service

To maintain up-to-date knowledge of Ultrasound scanning

Aid the Lead Sonographer and Ultrasound Facilitators with undertaking investigations surrounding DATIX and serious incidents

Qualifications

  • Recognised professional teaching qualification
