Job summary

Isle of Wight NHS Trust is recruiting a Band 7 Sonographer for a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover. The role is full-time (37.5 hours) and offers a salary in the band 7 range.

You will contribute to the new Community Diagnostic Centre project, delivering high-quality ultrasound services and improving patient pathways on the Isle of Wight. The post requires HCPC registration, CASE-accredited Ultrasound training, and recent NHS experience.

Qualifications

  • DMU / PGDip Medical Ultrasound from CASE-accredited institution.
  • HCPC registered to practise in the NHS.
  • Recent NHS experience is essential.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and MDT involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake and report high-quality ultrasound examinations.
  • Undertake supervisory duties as directed by Lead Sonographer.
  • Maintain professional standards and work under pressure to deliver high-quality care.
  • Manage a designated area within the Diagnostic Imaging Dept and optimise resources.

We are recruiting fora 12 month fixed term Sonographerwho wishes to join #TeamIOWNHS. You should share our passion and drive to ensure that our patients receive quality and compassionate care and work with us to ensure the Trust continues its journey.

This is a truly exciting time to join our team as we work towards launching our newly developed £10m Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) that will deliver first-class diagnostic care to our community.

The new centre will have the ability to deliver joined up diagnostic care, and with increased capacity this will ensure our patients will have faster access to treatment, earlier diagnosis, and improved outcomes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To undertake and report on high quality Ultrasound examinations and in accordance with professional standards and department protocols.

To undertake additional supervisory duties as may be determined by the Lead Sonographer and agreed by mutual consent.

To reliably produce work of the highest standard and be responsible for assessing and maintaining own standards while working under extreme pressure.

To manage your specific area within the Diagnostic Imaging Department on a day-to-day basis, making use of staff, equipment and other resources to provide a service of the highest quality to patients, their carers and their referring clinicians.

To monitor and maintain standards of ultrasound to meet both local and national requirements where appropriate.

Demonstrate professional commitment; be smart, punctual and enthusiastic in the promotion of the profession in general and in specialist area of imaging in particular.

Experience
  • DMU / PGDip Medical Ultrasound from Consortium Accreditation Sonographic Education (CASE) accredited institution
  • HCPC registration
  • Recent NHS experience
  • Evidence of multidisciplinary team working
  • Experience in Emergency Department imaging
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
  • Working knowledge of NHS policies, relevant legislation and developments e.g. Health and Safety Policies
  • Awareness of specialist modalities
