Job Opportunity: Sommelier at THE PIG - Harlyn Bay

We are recruiting a Sommelier to join our team at THE PIG - Harlyn Bay. Our Sommeliers break away from the traditional wine service image, focusing instead on developing wine knowledge while working during vibrant restaurant service. You will learn about local and international wine brands, build relationships with suppliers, and have opportunities for professional growth through courses, tastings, vineyard visits, and international trips. The role also includes light bar duties, including closing procedures.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. Providing knowledgeable wine service to guests, including wine and food pairing.
  2. Demonstrating skills and knowledge across the team, conducting briefings and tastings.
  3. Ensuring proper storage of wine stock and maintaining a safe, presentable cellar.
  4. Communicating effectively with both the team and guests, with a caring and considerate approach.
  5. Actively developing your knowledge of wines and spirits.
  6. Fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head Sommelier.
  7. Maintaining a clean and tidy bar area, including closing procedures.

Previous experience as a Sommelier or Bartender with good wine knowledge in a similar environment is required. A positive attitude and eagerness to learn about wines and spirits are essential.
