The Role

As a freelance interpreter, you will:

1. Facilitate communication between non-English speakers and service providers
2. Interpret in settings such as courts, law firms, social services, and healthcare facilities
3. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and impartiality
4. Work on an ad-hoc basis with flexibility to accept assignments that suit your availability

Requirements

1. Fluency in Somali and English
2. Previous interpreting/translation experience (preferred)
3. Valid/current Enhanced DBS check
4. Eligibility for self-employment in the UK
5. Two professional interpreting/translation references
6. Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills
7. Ability to travel to on-site assignments
8. Internet access and email for remote assignments
9. Commitment to accurate, confidential, and impartial service
10. Preferably qualified under Legal Aid Agency guidelines
