KBR is looking to recruit a Solutions Architect for a 12-month contract based in Warrington / Cumbria.

Role Overview
The role supports the PPP within the Digital Asset Management (DAM) programme at Sellafield. The team includes members from PPP and Sellafield’s asset management capabilities.

The DAM programme aims to improve site-wide asset management by creating an integrated information system that links asset data to enterprise processes, reducing paper-based work, and utilizing modern digital technologies for decision-making.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain architectural guidelines, templates, and reference materials to facilitate the creation of new architectures, including High- and Low-Level designs.
  2. Create a repository of reusable architectural components, focusing on IaaS/PaaS services to support hybrid cloud systems.
  3. Review vendor architecture and platform requirements to design hybrid cloud solutions, enabling the development of detailed system designs.
  4. Assist Enterprise Architects in developing and maintaining the architectural roadmap.
  5. Provide expert technical advice and leadership on ICT solutions to internal teams and external partners.
  6. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, legislative, and regulatory standards.
  7. Design solutions that support information assurance and cybersecurity policies.
  8. Maximize the use of existing architecture and services in solution designs.
  9. Understand Nuclear Sector Data policies and UK Government controls (NCSC, ISO, etc.).
  10. Leverage lessons learned and share knowledge within projects.
  11. Engage in personal development and training.
  12. Adhere to company processes, working practices, and IT systems.
Essential Skills:
  • Design of Azure hybrid cloud IaaS platforms and integration with COTS tools.
  • Experience with virtualization and VDI services.
  • Integration of cloud platforms with SIEM and SOC (e.g., MS Sentinel).
  • Design and implement IDAM systems for secure access.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, proficient with MS Office tools.
  • Proactive in obtaining necessary information and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to obtain UK government security clearance (SC/SL – Nuclear).
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in regulated sectors, especially nuclear.
  • Knowledge of MS Azure Landing Zones and Infrastructure as Code (BICEP).
