This role is crucial in designing and implementing scalable and efficient solutions across central projects, ensuring technical excellence and innovation. You will work closely with stakeholders, engineers, and product managers to define, build, and optimise architectural solutions within our Unity-based client and Google Cloud native backend ecosystem.

Additionally, you will get a chance to work on AI enablement and automation solutions in a fast-growing mobile gaming environment, plus the opportunity to experiment with the latest AI technologies and shape the future of AI-powered gaming solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product and gameops managers, engineers, technical product owners and other technical functions within the wider organisation to understand business requirements and define architectural solutions.
  • Lead the design and specification of system components, considering functionality, scalability, security, and integration.
  • Work with backend developers and central technical partners to design microservices and scalable backend frameworks on Google Cloud.
  • Ensure seamless integration of backend services, tools, and APIs into the existing Unity-based game architecture.
  • Provide technical oversight and architectural guidance to drive AI enablement, ensuring AI-driven solutions align with central platform capabilities.
  • Design and document architecture diagrams, API specifications (OpenAPI 3.0), and data flows to guide development and QA teams.
  • Advocate for best practices in system design, performance optimization, and automation within a cloud-native environment.
  • Identify risks and mitigation strategies related to new implementations and communicate effectively to stakeholders.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies, automation frameworks, and cloud-native innovations to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead the design and specification of AI and automation-driven system components, considering functionality, scalability, security, and integration.
  • Develop a strategic vision for AI and automation implementation, ensuring solutions are future-proof and aligned with industry trends.

What We're Looking For

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience as a Solution Architect, focused on cloud-native solutions.
  • Experience designing and implementing high-performance backend systems and cross-functional central projects.
  • Strong background in cloud computing and microservices architecture, preferably with Google Cloud (GCP).
  • Solid understanding of message brokers, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous communication (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ).
  • Experience designing and documenting APIs, data models, and system integrations using OpenAPI 3.0.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable, AI-powered architectural solutions.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI and backend development (e.g., Java, Python, C#, Ruby or JavaScript).
  • Experience working within Agile development methodologies (SCRUM/Kanban).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to explain AI and automation concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in automation projects.
  • Previous experience in the gaming industry or a strong passion for game development.
  • Proficiency in Unity game development workflows and its integration with AI/automation solutions.
  • Strong expertise in AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenAI, or similar) and their application in game development or backend automation.
