Job summary

Rullion is recruiting a Solution Architect on a contract basis to deliver architecture across Azure, data, and enterprise platforms. The role is based at Somerset Innovation Park, Bridgwater with hybrid on-site work and coordination with Aztec West Bristol.

The contractor will produce high/low designs, ensure governance, and drive cyber/regulatory compliance while collaborating with IT stakeholders and external partners.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in architecture, engineering or design roles.
• Azure cloud, networking, security, integration and DevOps experience.
• Experience with MuleSoft, Databricks, SQL and enterprise platforms.
• Knowledge of CASB, firewalls, proxies and load balancers.
• Able to produce architecture artefacts and governance outputs.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Azure Expert certification mandatory; TOGAF/ITIL desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-level and low-level designs, roadmaps, patterns and environment strategies.
• Support solution assurance and translate requirements into scalable design components.
• Architectures across Azure, M365/Entra ID, HCI, PLM, EDRMS, EUC, and enterprise systems.
• Prepare and review design documentation and supplier deliverables.
• Participate in architecture governance forums including the ARB.
• Ensure compliance with cyber and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with partners and internal IT stakeholders.
• Support evaluation of emerging technologies.

Job description

Role: Solution Architect

Position: Contract

Location: Somerset Innovation Park, Bridgwater, Somerset / Aztec West Bristol

Days on Site: TBC, hybrid

Duration: TBC

Pay: up to 500£ PAYE - £730 Umbrella

Purpose/Overview

The contractor will provide Solution Architecture services to support the design, assurance, and governance of digital and technology solutions across cloud, infrastructure, data, integration, end-user compute, operational technology, and enterprise platforms. The contractor is expected to deliver architecture artefacts and governance outputs ensuring solutions meet business outcomes, comply with regulatory and cyber requirements, and align with established HPC architectural principles.

Operating Environment

The contractor will work within the HPC Digital & IT function, specifically the Architecture team, collaborating with Delivery, Service & Digital Operations, and Data Governance. The environment is complex, regulated, and governed, requiring adherence to strict design and security controls.

Scope of Services

The contractor will deliver the following activities:

• Ability to produce high-quality architecture artefacts.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Azure Expert certification (mandatory). TOGAF/ITIL desirable.
