Job summary

Sanderson Government & Defence is seeking an experienced Architecture & Design Lead to craft end-to-end technical architectures for complex digital services and software solutions. You will produce high-quality artefacts, from architecture diagrams to technical documentation, and conduct pragmatic technical assessments to guide decision-making.

Leading governance through enterprise, data, and security standards, you will review designs, promote best practices, and align delivery with user needs.

Job description

Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Design

• Design end-to-end technical architectures for complex digital services and software solutions


• Produce high-quality artefacts including architecture diagrams, models, and technical documentation


• Conduct technical assessments and provide clear, practical recommendations


• Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to user needs

Governance & Assurance

• Lead architecture through governance processes, ensuring alignment with enterprise, data, and security standards


• Review and assure designs from internal teams and client stakeholders


• Promote architectural best practices and consistency across delivery

Delivery & Leadership

• Lead work-streams or smaller engagements within broader programmes


• Contribute to technical road-maps and agile delivery planning


• Provide ongoing technical oversight and direction to delivery teams

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across business and technology functions


• Facilitate architectural decision-making and communicate complex ideas clearly


• Translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences

Internal Contribution

• Support the development of junior team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing


• Contribute to bids, proposals, and broader capability development


• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends
