Job summary

Sanderson is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join a major technology modernisation programme in the UK. The role focuses on transitioning a complex technology estate from legacy platforms to a modern, cloud-native, domain-oriented and event-driven architecture.

You'll design API-first architectures, implement event streaming with Kafka, and deliver cloud-native solutions in AWS, building robust microservices and applying Domain-Driven Design to complex environments.

Qualifications

Solution Architect / Senior Solution Architect - Modern Architecture

£650 - £750 p/d - IR35 TBC - 6 Month initial contract but likely to be extended

Overview:

We're looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join a major technology modernisation programme, helping transition a complex technology estate away from legacy platforms towards a modern, cloud-native, domain-oriented and event-driven architecture.

This is a highly delivery-focused architecture role. You'll work closely with engineering teams to define solutions, validate architectural approaches and ensure they can be successfully implemented within a production environment.

What you'll be doing

• Designing API-first architectures and integration patterns
• Exploring and implementing event streaming and messaging technologies, including Kafka
• Designing and delivering cloud-native solutions within AWS
• Defining microservices and distributed system architectures
• Designing solutions using event-driven architecture principles
• Applying Domain-Driven Design (DDD) to complex technology environments
• Working directly with engineering teams to turn architecture into working solutions
• Assessing and selecting appropriate technologies and tooling, proving approaches alongside engineers
• Ensuring architectural solutions are practical, scalable and capable of being implemented successfully
• Supporting the transition from legacy applications towards a modern distributed technology landscape
• Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to both engineering teams and wider stakeholders

What we're looking for

You'll have significant practical experience designing and delivering distributed systems, with strong knowledge across:

• Event streaming and messaging patterns
