Job summary

SR2 REC LTD is seeking a Solution Architect for a remote, outside IR35 contract in the public sector. The role focuses on turning complex requirements into clear designs and actionable development tasks.

You'll work with delivery teams across API design, systems integration and platform migrations, delivering designs through assurance to implementation on a remote, UK-wide basis.

Solution Architect - Outside IR35

We are looking for multiple Solution Architects to support a public sector organisation delivering critical digital services. This opportunity would suit an architect with a strong software engineering background who can turn complex requirements into clear designs and practical development tasks.

The Role

You’ll work alongside established delivery teams to shape solutions across interconnected platforms and external services. Your work will span API design, systems integration, platform enhancements and technical migrations, taking solutions from initial design through assurance and into implementation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop solution designs, architecture diagrams and detailed technical specifications for priority initiatives.
• Design reusable APIs and integration patterns connecting internal platforms with external service providers.
• Investigate technical dependencies and resolve integration challenges across existing services.
• Translate designs into delivery-ready engineering tickets with clear requirements, dependencies and acceptance criteria.

Essential

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect, underpinned by a strong software development background.
• Experience designing APIs, service integrations and cloud-based solutions.
• Ability to address data flows, network connectivity and security requirements within technical designs.
• Experience planning migrations and introducing changes to established platforms.
• Confidence presenting designs for technical assurance and responding to review feedback.
• Ability to turn architectural decisions into practical tasks for engineering teams.
• Strong communication skills across technical teams, stakeholders and external partners.

Desirable

• Experience supporting public sector or healthcare technology programmes.
• Background working with case-management systems, laboratory services or fulfilment integrations.
• Experience modernising or re-platforming operational services.
