Job summary

Jobtailor in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced network design professional to own end-to-end multi-site networking and security projects across UK sites. You will design, configure and commission Cisco and Fortinet platforms with delivery engineers, travel to customer sites, and produce comprehensive hand-over packs.

We expect strong knowledge of routing, switching, security architectures, and SSE/SASE technologies. A driving licence is essential; NSE certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• CCNP certification required.
• Hands-on experience designing, configuring and deploying Fortinet platforms (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer) in production environments.
• Proven SSE/SASE technology experience and strong SD-WAN design/delivery capability.
• Solid routing and switching knowledge: VLANs, BGP, OSPF, IPsec, QoS, DNS, DHCP, wireless.
• Track record delivering multi-site network and security projects end-to-end.
• On-site UK travel and physical installation work.
• Calm, methodical approach under pressure and strong communication skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
• NSE 4/6/7 certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-level and low-level designs, build documents and runbooks.
• Translate customer requirements into deliverable architectures.
• Review configurations and build documentation for quality assurance.
• Lead and mentor delivery engineers; support certification development.
• Act as senior escalation point during build and cut-over phases.
• Explain design decisions and risks to customers and stakeholders.
• Lead pre-sales solution design using Cisco/FortiNet expertise.
• Help establish and improve team design and build standards.
• Occasional planned out-of-hours work for change windows.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end technical design of multi-site networking and security projects from pre-sales and solution design through customer hand-over
• Configure, build, migrate and commission Cisco, Fortinet and adjacent platforms alongside delivery engineers
• Travel to customer sites across the UK for design workshops, kick-offs, surveys, installation, cabling and commissioning
• Produce High-Level and Low-Level Designs, build documents, configuration templates, runbooks and as-built hand-over packs
• Translate customer requirements and commercial outcomes into deliverable architectures
• Review configurations, change records and build documents to ensure technical quality
• Lead and mentor delivery engineers and support certification development
• Act as senior technical escalation point during build, migration and cut-over phases
• Explain design decisions, progress, risks and trade-offs to customers and non-technical stakeholders
• Lead pre-sales solution design using Cisco and Fortinet expertise
• Help establish and improve team design and build standards
• Perform some planned out-of-hours work for change windows

Requirements

• CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) as a minimum
• Hands‑on experience designing, configuring and deploying Fortinet platforms (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and the wider Security Fabric) in production environments
• Practical experience delivering SSE or SASE technologyStrong design and delivery experience on at least one major SD‑WAN platform
• Solid working knowledge of routing and switching, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, IPsec, QoS, DNS, DHCP and wireless
• Track record of delivering multi‑site network and security projects end to end
• Hands‑on, on‑site implementation experience, including UK travel and physical installation work
• Confident written and verbal communication
• Calm, methodical approach under pressure
• Full UK driving licence
• NSE 4 or higher preferred
• Fortinet NSE 6 or NSE 7 nice to have
• Wider Cisco specialisations, HP/Aruba or SonicWall, public cloud networking, ZTNA design, and technical standards/reference architecture experience nice to have
