Our exciting opportunity

The Packet Core Solution Architect is part of a Solution delivery team driving major transformation programmes for a Tier 1 telco operator in the UK.

The role will be the main contact for solution design for both internal and external partners. Activities include preparing solution designs, leading design discussions with customers, reviewing design documents, and assisting solution engineers with troubleshooting and issue management.

Responsibilities

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end deployed cloud solutions for customers.
• Lead multi-domain virtual teams and collaborate across centers of excellence, global support, and product line maintenance teams to drive solution design.
• Serve as the primary technical contact and engagement point for internal and external stakeholders during escalations. Collaborate closely with the Test Manager on test definition, execution, and reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement in recurring tasks and support automation initiatives.
• Work closely with other Solution Architects on integration design and planning.
• Mentor and guide new team members.
• Participate in technical discussions with customer SMEs.
• Lead troubleshooting and fault isolation during solution deployment as an Investigation Leader.
• Identify and promote business leads, products, and services. Recognize risks and sales opportunities within the customer network.

Technical Knowledge

• End-to-end solution competence on full stack including Applications (CNF/VNF) and Infrastructure.
• Expertise in Ericsson Infrastructure Products: CEE, SDN (OVS), SDI, CCD, EVNFM, SDS, OMC.
• Experience in dimensioning containerized network functions.
• Expertise in Packet Core for 4G and 5G, including knowledge of MME, SPGW, AMF, SMF, UPF.
• Knowledge of protocols such as HTTP, Diameter, Radius, GTP (SBI and SBA).
• Experience analyzing traces with Wireshark.
• Networking knowledge including BGP, BFD, CNIs in Kubernetes like Multus, and Kubernetes networking.
• Experience with user plane functions like Header Enrichment, Content Filtering, Deep Packet Inspection.
• Automation and scripting skills.
• Proficiency in Linux, OVS, TCP, and troubleshooting Ericsson products.
