Job summary

Rullion is seeking a Solutions Architect for a 3-month contract to lead early-stage architectural direction on a new greenfield digital solution in the energy sector. The role emphasizes architecture, assessment and technical leadership over hands-on delivery.

Key focus areas include Databricks migrations, API architecture, data platforms and modern cloud-native approaches, with remote-friendly options and a mix of on-site days. Prior energy sector experience is highly valued.

• Experience with AI/ML, Digital Twins or other emerging technologies.
• Energy sector experience would be advantageous.

Solutions Architect - Greenfield Digital Solution

We are currently recruiting for an exciting Solutions Architect contract opportunity working on a new, greenfield digital solution within the energy sector.

Location: 1 day per week onsite - remote working will also be considered
Duration: 3 months
IR35: Inside IR35

This is a great opportunity for an Architect who enjoys getting involved at the early stages of a project, assessing the technology landscape, shaping the direction and recommending the right architectural approach rather than simply delivering against an established blueprint.

What will you be doing?

The role is focused on architecture, assessment and technical direction, rather than hands-on delivery. You'll help establish the pathway for a new solution, assess options, understand technical implications and make clear recommendations.

You'll be involved in:

• Shaping the architecture for a new, greenfield digital solution
• Assessing and recommending appropriate technology and architectural approaches
• Providing the technical pathway from Proof of Concept through to potential production
• Evaluating the implications of the migration from Snowflake/Azure towards Databricks
• Understanding migration dependencies, risks and potential impact on delivery
• Designing and assessing API architecture, which is a key focus of the role
• Supporting PoCs and prototypes where required, while primarily providing the architectural direction and roadmap
• Translating complex technical considerations into clear recommendations for technical and business stakeholders
• Exploring the application of emerging technologies including AI/ML and Digital Twins

What are we looking for?

• Strong Solutions Architecture experience, particularly within greenfield environments
• Databricks experience - essential
• Strong API architecture and design experience
• Experience with Azure, ideally alongside Databricks migrations or implementations
• Experience working with Snowflake and understanding data platform migration considerations
• Strong understanding of modern cloud-native architectures
• Proven ability to assess technology options and make clear architectural recommendations
• Ability to understand the bigger picture and establish a clear technical pathway
• Experience with AI/ML, Digital Twins or other emerging technologies would be highly desirable
• Previous energy sector experience would be a strong advantage

Microservices experience is not a key requirement for this role - the focus is much more heavily weighted towards API architecture, Databricks, data platforms and architectural decision-making.
