Do you enjoy using technology to solve customer problems? Are you looking for a role that combines your solution engineering and analysis skills with customer engagement? If so, then why not join Leonardo as a Solution Architect?

Our growing Digital Services team delivers data-driven applications and infrastructure to improve our current business, whilst also creating new opportunities for our customers in the UK and around the world. The Digital team is part of the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business, which provides innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers.

We are looking for a passionate and inspiring Solution Architect to join Leonardo to provide the solution architecture vision for a range of opportunities. This role involves working within a Campaign/Capture team, alongside Business Analysts, to understand customer requirements and define successful solutions using strong systems thinking skills. You will collaborate with product owners and developers to understand current capabilities and how they can contribute to new solutions, as well as breaking down designs into costed work packages. Additionally, you will work with the wider Campaign/Capture team to provide technical Systems Engineering and Project Management inputs for planning, scheduling, and costing activities. Managing senior stakeholders both internally and externally, both technical and non-technical, to demonstrate and articulate the capabilities of the Digital Services team is also a key part of this role.

Our team is located across the UK, with options to be based at any of our main UK sites. Leonardo offers a flexible hybrid-working model, allowing staff to split time between the workplace and remote work. CS3 operates across the UK with key sites in Luton and Edinburgh. Regular travel within the UK, and occasionally abroad, will be required to support co-located working.

  • Develop architectures and design specifications to expand, define, manage, and deliver solutions.
  • Ensure solutions align with the team’s strategy, capabilities, and technology roadmap.
  • Contribute to technical Systems Engineering and Project Management activities, including planning, scheduling, and costing.
  • Act as a focal point for key stakeholders to build confidence and credibility for the team and the wider line of business.
  • Identify opportunities to diversify delivery capabilities to adjacent sectors and assist in writing technical responses for new bids.
  • Promote Agile practices, coaching teams in refinement and best practices, both within your own team and in partnership with others.

We’d like to hear from you if you have:

  • A bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect focused on digital solutions.
  • A strong understanding of digital technologies, including cloud computing, on-premises infrastructure, microservices architecture, and API design.
  • Proficiency in selecting and integrating third-party tools and platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and project management.
  • Familiarity with security best practices and regulatory compliance in digital solutions.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to provide innovative solutions to business challenges.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience working with Business Analytics and Analysts.
  • Additional useful skills include certifications in relevant technologies, experience in the Defence Industry, familiarity with MOD logistics or engineering systems like MJDI, James, and Gold, knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, MODAF, Archimate, team organization skills, and knowledge of data analytics and machine learning approaches.
