Solution Architect
6 months
Knutsford - hybrid x2 days onsite x3 remote
Inside IR35 - Umbrella only

Role overview

The team forms part of the overall BUK POD focusing on specialist customer servicing functions such as Financial assistance, Bereavements, Delegated authority etc. Working to deliver strategic change for the majority of Business areas, driving new business and improved customer experience across all products including Digital channels, Colleague Desktop, ATM & Self Service and a range of online, internal, external products.

Overall purpose of role

• Design solutions for complex business requirements.
• Support the business and project management teams in the definition and refinement of business requirements.
• Provide consultancy and support to the business and project management teams helping to shape requirements and identify solutions that align with the latest architecture and strategy within the bank.
• Collaborate with architecture, security, infrastructure, and component teams to ensure that designs adhere to the latest standards and guidelines.
• Assess different potential solutions and provide guidance to the business on the most appropriate solution to adopt.
• Provide high level estimates for different solutions.

Key Accountabilities

• Define and document the end-to-end solution. Ensuring that it aligns with the Architectural Vision, meets all requirements and has been agreed by all component teams.
• Support the component teams with their designs, providing clarity on the responsibilities of each team and resolving contentious design issues.
• An SME for the overall design, resolving issues and overcoming design blockers through collaboration and negotiation with the wider team.
• Support with the impact assessment and implementation of new requirements within the component team designs.

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 8 years of experience of working on complex end to end designs as a solution architect.
• Experience in complex systems integration with sound knowledge of integration and implementation issues and their architectural implications and Cloud hosting.
• Excellent understanding of best practice architectural and design methods with proven innovative and leading-edge thinking.
• Understanding / knowledge of the full stack Development Tech, especially with frontend development frameworks.
• Experience of working with various stakeholders to influence their thinking about what is possible through technology innovation.

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience of mobile and internet customer services, ideally in Financial Services.
• Ability to exhibit deep technical understanding conveyed through crisp solution design walkthroughs.
• Experience working with the cloud Architecture and design cloud solutions.
• Application / Infrastructure / Enterprise Architect training and certification.
