Job summary

SCS Railways in London, United Kingdom, seeks an experienced Integration Architect to own and deliver enterprise integration across data warehouse, cloud services, ETL, and API patterns. You will lead design reviews, coordinate with architects and vendors, and ensure secure, scalable solutions on the HS2 programme.

The role requires hands-on Azure, Databricks, Python, and CI/CD experience, with a hybrid work model and minimum three days in the office weekly.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading data warehouse, SQL, and Azure implementations and owning the integration strategy through to execution and delivery in an established IT department.
  • Proven architectural design skills, with the ability to discuss the merits and trade-offs of different design approaches and technologies.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, Python, Databricks, and ETLs.
  • Strong experience with protocols and formats such as REST, SOAP, JSON, and XML.
  • Experience with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data pipelines, and cloud-native architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce High Level Design and Low Level Design documents.
  • Expertise in integration architecture and design patterns.
  • Experience in data warehouse, SQL, and Azure solutions is desirable.
  • Experience in Identity and Access Management, security best practices, and authentication protocols such as OAuth2 and SAML.
  • Proven track record of delivering secure, performant, and scalable solutions.
  • Experience with cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-on-premise integrations.
  • Experience with frontend and backend systems, infrastructure, and enterprise monitoring tools is desirable.
  • Ability to influence technical direction and set coding and design standards.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including architects, business analysts, testers, and vendors.
  • Background in software development and experience in a solution development or similar role, or within an established architecture practice.
  • Experience developing enterprise-level integration design and delivering it using suitable technologies, standards, and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, analyse, and deliver solutions, ensuring integration requirements align with best practice and policies for projects and BAU work involving IT systems.
  • Use hands-on skills to deliver design, build, and test activities, and lead or review work delivered by third parties.
  • Lead and manage integration architecture activities with other IT architects, support teams, and third-party vendors.
  • Act as the go-to person for integration-related topics, information, knowledge, technologies, platforms, and architecture.
  • Work closely with support and service teams and third parties to monitor integration issues and lead timely resolution, especially for production incidents.
  • Take proactive actions to prevent and address integration issues.
  • Update integration architecture artefacts, including the integration inventory, integration architecture and design, guidelines, and integration patterns.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and participate in security, audit, and regulatory initiatives.
