Job summary

Bupa is seeking a Solution Architect to lead architecture across acquisitions and new builds in a hybrid London role. You will translate business challenges into scalable, secure cloud-native solutions for web/mobile platforms and work with engineering, data and security teams to drive value.

The role requires 3+ years in architecture, strong UML/C4 skills, and hands-on cloud design. Hybrid work, with 2 days on site, aligns with our digital transformation journey.

Qualifications

• Proven 3+ years in Solution Architecture roles.
• End-to-end solution design for web/mobile/cloud systems.
• Experience with UML and C4 architecture diagrams.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-team collaboration.
• Designing resilient, secure, scalable architectures.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and integration across acquisitions and new builds.
• Assess due diligence and develop integration budgets; identify risks.
• Translate business challenges into strategic tech solutions balancing cost and value.
• Collaborate across architecture, engineering, data, security and operations.
• Design end-to-end solutions aligned with standards and governance.
• Build relationships with internal teams and external partners to enable delivery.
• Communicate complex ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

How you'll help us make health happen

• Lead the architecture and integration / consolidation of IT systems across acquisitions and new build sites.
• Support with the assessment, due diligence and development of integration budgets for new acquisitions including the identification and mitigations of risks
• Translate business challenges into clear, strategic technology solutions, balancing cost, risk, and time to value
• Collaborate across architecture, engineering, data, security, and operations to deliver the technical vision
• Design and influence end‑to‑end solutions, ensuring alignment with architectural standards and governance
• Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to support successful delivery
• Communicate complex ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Ensure solutions meet governance, compliance, and quality standards with minimal friction

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

• Proven 3 years plus experience in Solution Architecture roles
• Ability to design end‑to‑end solutions for high‑availability web, mobile, and cloud‑based systems
• Strong understanding of architecture modelling techniques such as UML and C4
• Strong stakeholder management experience
• Experience designing and delivering resilient, scalable, and secure systems
• Solid background in web technologies including HTML5, JavaScript, REST, XML, and OData
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Node.js, Java, C#, or Python
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (particularly Azure Cloud Platform and Google Cloud Platform), including PaaS solutions and workload migration
• Expertise in modern architectural practices, including: Microservices, API‑led design , CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, Cloud‑native design patterns
• Strong ability to collaborate with engineers and technical teams, confidently engaging in detailed technical discussions
• Experience designing data architectures that are scalable, secure, and optimised for performance
• Healthcare industry knowledge is preferred
• Experience integrating systems during acquisitions or the commissioning of new sites.
• You can demonstrate the ability to create Solution designs for high‑availability systems and cloud native 3rd party solutions using notation like UML and C4.
