Role: Solution Architect

Location: Northampton or Knutsford

Duration: 31 December 2025

Rate: £500 per day - Umbrella only

Job description:

Good To have skill:

  • TOGAF and specifically the TOGAF Architecture Development Method (ADM) provide very good guidelines and best practices to architects, implement architectures within organisations.
  • 'Requirements Management' circle at the centre of the ADM graphic, the ADM is continuously driven by the requirements management process.
Architecture Development Cycle:
  • Need associate with prior exp in Cards and Payments domain knowledge of cards issuance and authorisation journeys.
  • Good to have banking and Cards secured lending work experience.
  • Cards and Loans collections and recoveries - Work experience required.
  • Migration Experience from legacy to cloud is an added advantage.
  • Leading architectural design within a business area that has true customer and colleague impacts.
  • Creating an architectural vision in keeping with the business providing a technical solution for customer and colleagues.
  • Owning the technical solution, providing an end-to-end assurance that satisfies business needs & creating Scalable solutions.
  • Acting as SME to whom that business area trusts to realise their aspirations as to how they can best drive their business forward in helping our customers.
  • Challenging the status quo; things don't change by themselves, so new thinking is welcomed and applauded.
  • Providing a fresh perspective that not only protects our brand but also re-energises Barclays as a bank with technology at its heart.
  • Continuously collaborating with a team of like-minded architects, encouraging each other to find the right technology solutions for the business areas.
What We're Looking For:
  • Evidence of leadership over a team of architects, providing direction and delivering architectural solutions.
  • Track record of managing large scale changes & delivering effective solutions.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships at CTO as well as CIO level.
  • Solid understanding of Domain Driven Design methodology combined with Cards & Payment Domain.
Desired skills:
  • Product Processing - Specialised/Deeper financial services product/business/process knowledge.
  • Integration - Specialised/Deeper knowledge in Integration patterns especially in a Cloud Native, Streaming, Domain Driven Design world.
  • Cloud - Specialised/Deeper knowledge in AWS Stack.
  • Data - Specialised/Deeper knowledge in Data Platforms especially in a Cloud Native, Streaming, Domain Driven Design world.
  • Digital Servicing - Knowledge and Experience in architecting Digital Journey (customer/colleague) [this is from Tech rather than UI/UI perspective].
