Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience with CAD design, preferably using SolidWorks.
  • Experience creating SOPs, training materials, or process documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a talented and driven SolidWorks / CAD Designer to join our Technical Services team at our Alfreton headquarters. If you re passionate about engineering, design precision, and making a real difference to people's lives, this could be your next great opportunity.

The Purpose of the Role

As a CAD Designer, you ll play a vital part in designing and documenting high-quality mobility products. You ll develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), create installation/user manuals, and produce 3D models and detailed technical drawings to support our fabrication, installation, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and create 3D models for new product kits using SolidWorks
  • Develop comprehensive SOPs, work instructions, and user/installation manuals
  • Maintain documentation to support production, training, and installation teams
  • Create illustrated parts catalogues for use across all departments
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and FMEA documentation processes
  • Liaise cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams
  • Assist in implementing improvements to streamline manufacturing processes
  • Collaborate with other departments to efficiently manage technical enquiries
  • Support a strong H&S and compliance culture through consistent documentation

What We re Looking For

You ll thrive in this role if you re both technically skilled and people-focused, with a desire to deliver excellent documentation that helps the wider team succeed.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • SolidWorks (3D CAD) proficiency and the ability to produce manufacturing-ready models and drawings
  • Working knowledge of BS8888 & ISO128 drawing standards
  • Familiar with manufacturing techniques (e.g. machining, bending, pressing, vacuum forming, etc.)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills (8D, 5 Whys, etc.)
  • Confident liaising with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experienced in creating training materials, SOPs, or process documents
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a technical, mechanical, or design discipline

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Brig-Ayd or Autochair product ranges
  • Experience in the mobility or automotive adaptation industry
