Job Description:

A leading national law firm are currently looking to recruit an experienced Solicitor/Team Leader to join their Public Law & Human Rights department to deal with Claims Against Public Authorities.

You’ll lead the Claims Against Public Authorities team, manage a small caseload, and guide a group of solicitors, fee earners, and support staff. Your job is to ensure excellent legal work, support team development, and help the department run smoothly.

Job Title: Solicitor/Team Leader - Claims Against Public Authorities

Location: London (Hybrid working up to 2 days in-office per week)

Reports to: Head of Public Law and Human Rights

Department: Public Law

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support your team with regular check-ins, reviews, and coaching
  • Oversee performance, set goals, and help the team meet targets
  • Ensure compliance with legal aid and regulatory rules
  • Manage risks and handle complaints professionally
  • Support training and development for team members
  • Help with department planning, forecasting, and business development
  • Keep a reduced caseload of CAPA matters

What You’ll Need

  • Qualified solicitor (Grade A or equivalent)
  • Strong experience in actions against public authorities
  • Previous team or people management experience
  • Knowledge of legal aid work and procedures
  • Great communication, organisation, and IT skills
  • A sensitive, client-focused approach
