Solicitor – Office of the General Counsel - Contentious work, London

Our Office of the General Counsel advises on a wide variety of contentious and non-contentious risk issues that arise in the delivery of professional services across assurance, tax, and advisory areas.

Role Overview

As a lawyer specializing in contentious work within our in-house legal team, you will:

1. Handle claims, issues, and projects such as professional liability claims, regulatory issues, professional indemnity insurance, litigation, mediation, and other risk-management matters.
2. Collaborate with colleagues to provide solution-focused, commercially pragmatic advice to stakeholders, including partners and senior management.
3. Instruct and manage external solicitors, counsel, and experts in disputes concerning professional services.

This role may suit a junior or mid-level litigator from a commercial law firm, but applications from all qualified candidates demonstrating the necessary skills are welcome.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with substantial experience in commercial dispute resolution in England and Wales or a similar jurisdiction.
• Good knowledge of law and procedures related to professional liability, especially concerning professional advisors.
• Desirable skills include understanding risk-management issues, pragmatic approach, self-motivation, strong communication skills, teamwork, and relationship-building abilities.
