Job summary

Nottingham City Council invites applications for a Solicitor (Commercial Property & Conveyancing). You will join our busy conveyancing and commercial property team in Nottingham, managing a varied caseload and working closely with colleagues across the Council to deliver homes, regeneration projects and long-term city development.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with eligibility to practice in England and Wales.
• Experience in residential conveyancing and in commercial property matters including leases and acquisitions.
• Ability to manage complex legal matters independently and with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of local government or public sector context (or transferable experience).
• English language fluency is essential per Immigration Act Part 7 requirement.

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hrs per week

Salary: Starting Salary is £40,777 (Level one) rising to £44,075 incrementally pro rata for part-time’ - Pay award pending.

You will join our busy and collaborative conveyancing and commercial property team, manage a varied caseload and work closely with colleagues across the Council.

Your work will include:

• Residential conveyancing, including acquisitions and disposals (including Right to Buy)
• Commercial property and landlord & tenant work
• Development and regeneration projects
• General estates matters

You’ll also play a key role in supporting and supervising junior colleagues, contributing to the development of the team.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
• Experience in residential conveyancing
• Experience across commercial property matters, including leases and acquisitions
• Ability to manage complex legal matters independently
• understanding of local government or public sector context (or transferable experience)
• This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English, is an essential requirement for the role.
