The Department
Our Real Estate Team handles various residential and commercial property matters, from Landlord and Tenant issues to Construction, Development, Asset Management, Utilities, Conveyancing, and Property Finance. We are currently seeking a Lawyer to assist a partner primarily in residential conveyancing within the retirement living sector. This is a fast-paced, thriving market where excellent communication and time management skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate effectively within the Brighton Real Estate Group, specializing in non-contentious residential property transactions, including purchases and disposals, often involving clients buying retirement living properties and selling their current homes.
- Manage own caseload and fee targets under supervision.
- Achieve targets set by the Group Head/Head of Department.
Personal and Professional Development
- Participate in the Real Estate group meetings and training programs.
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge and awareness of the legal market, especially in residential property.
- Support the firm's vision and culture and participate in annual performance reviews.
Legal and Financial Responsibilities
- Handle a wide range of non-contentious residential property work.
- Achieve financial targets, including billing and debt management.
- Maintain accurate case and financial data.
Client Care and Business Development
- Ensure high standards of client service to encourage repeat and referral business.
- Assist with marketing initiatives, including writing articles, attending seminars, and other activities.
Risk Management
- Comply with Anti-Money Laundering and FSMA policies.
- Maintain CQS accreditation and follow risk management procedures.
- Participate in regular workload reviews.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous residential property experience and knowledge of property legislation, landlord and tenant law, and relevant case law.
- Effective time management and client communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Team-oriented with IT proficiency (including Outlook, Word, Excel, and digital dictation).
- Attention to detail in documentation and legal drafting.
- Understanding of the firm’s strategy and vision.
