A1 Personnel is seeking a Residential Conveyancing Solicitor, FCILEX or Licensed Conveyancer to join our Reading, Berkshire team. You will manage your own caseload from instruction to completion, handling freehold and leasehold matters with confidence and a client-focused approach.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor, FCILEX or Licensed Conveyancer status with strong residential conveyancing background.
• Proven hands-on experience managing own residential conveyancing caseload.
• Solid understanding of the conveyancing process from instruction to completion.
• Experience handling freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
• Confidence dealing with clients, lenders, agents and other professionals.
• Strong drafting, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to completion.
• Handle a range of freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
• Review title docs, searches, contracts, and property information.
• Raise and respond to enquiries, resolving legal or transactional issues.
• Prepare contracts, title reports, completion statements and related docs.
• Interact with clients, estate agents, lenders and other solicitors, providing clear advice.
• Progress transactions to key milestones, updating clients regularly.
• Manage exchange, completion and post-completion formalities including SDLT & Land Registry.

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Residential Conveyancing Solicitor, FCILEX or Licensed Conveyancer to join a busy, growing and well-established residential property team based in Reading, Berkshire.

The successful candidate will have proven experience managing their own residential conveyancing caseload, with the confidence and technical ability to handle transactions from initial instruction through to exchange and completion.

We are looking for someone who is commercially aware, proactive and client-focused, with a commitment to providing an excellent standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently manage a caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to completion.
• Handle a range of freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
• Review title documentation, searches, contracts and property information.
• Raise and respond to enquiries, identifying and resolving potential legal or transactional issues.
• Prepare contracts, reports on title, completion statements and other relevant documentation.
• Liaise directly with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, brokers and other solicitors.
• Provide clear, practical and commercially focused legal advice throughout the conveyancing process.
• Proactively progress transactions, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are regularly updated.
• Handle exchange of contracts, completion and relevant post-completion formalities, including SDLT and Land Registry requirements.
• Maintain accurate case management records and ensure compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Deliver excellent client care while contributing to departmental performance and targets.

About You

To be considered, you will ideally have:

• Qualified Solicitor, FCILEX or Licensed Conveyancer status, with a strong background in residential conveyancing.
• Proven hands-on experience managing your own residential conveyancing caseload.
• A sound understanding of the residential conveyancing process from instruction through to completion.
• Experience handling freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
• Confidence dealing directly with clients, lenders, estate agents and other legal professionals.
• The ability to identify and resolve legal and transactional issues independently.
• Strong drafting, communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive and commercially minded approach to managing files.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• A genuine commitment to delivering high-quality client service.

Experience with new-build transactions, remortgages, transfers of equity, shared ownership or high-volume caseloads would be advantageous but is not essential.

What We're Looking For

The key requirement is genuine, hands-on experience independently managing residential conveyancing matters.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have taken ownership of their own files, including client communication, dealing with enquiries, resolving issues and progressing transactions through to exchange and completion.

This opportunity is suited to a qualified Solicitor, FCILEX or Licensed Conveyancer who is comfortable running their own caseload rather than solely assisting or supporting other fee earners.
