Our client, a top 150 law firm, are seeking experienced Criminal Defence Solicitors with expertise in both police station, and magistrates court work. We are particularly keen to hear from individuals that are duty qualified. The firm are hiring across all their offices in the North-West (Wigan, Manchester and St.Helens). Their current criminal defence department have over 150 years of combined experience, with many their defence lawyers being higher rights advocates.

This is an exciting opportunity for ambitious and motivated Solicitors looking to join a busy and highly reputable firm. It suits both experienced lawyers and newly qualified solicitors seeking a new challenge to accelerate their career.

It is vital that you demonstrate high levels of professionalism in this role and have experience and confidence running your own caseload. More key responsibilities can be found below.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting interviews with clients to take instructions on criminal allegations
  • Conducting legal research and advising on points of law and practice
  • Attending the Police Station to provide advice and assistance
  • Attending to represent clients in the Magistrates Court
  • Conducting Crown Court litigation and instructing Counsel
  • Drafting letters and legal documents
  • Working in accordance with the Office Manual
  • Handle a diverse caseload of criminal matters with precision and diligence.
  • Collaborate with a team of legal professionals to ensure optimal client outcomes.

  • Ideal candidates will be between 0-5 PQE, however our client will consider more experienced candidates with up to 10 years PQE.

  • Strong advocacy and communication skills.
