Job description

Title: Solicitor - Banking & Finance

Location: Glasgow

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000


A leading law firm with a strong national presence is looking to recruit a Newly Qualified to 2-year PQE Solicitor to join its highly regarded Banking & Finance team, based in either Edinburgh or Glasgow. The team is one of the largest and most experienced in Scotland, advising a broad client base that includes financial institutions, corporate borrowers, sponsors, and other key players in the finance sector. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of transactional matters including corporate lending, real estate finance, clean energy and infrastructure finance, as well as supporting on cross-border deals and financial regulatory matters. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative team with access to high-quality work and meaningful client relationships.


Responsibilities:

  1. Involvement in transactional matters including corporate lending, real estate finance, clean energy and infrastructure finance.
  2. Support on cross-border deals and financial regulatory matters.
  3. Engage in business development activities and contribute to firm-wide initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Experience in banking and finance during traineeship.
  2. Strong drafting and analytical skills.
  3. Excellent communication and time management skills.
  4. Proactive and solution-focused approach to legal advice.
  5. Interest in developing expertise across sectors such as energy, hospitality, and technology.

While not essential, familiarity with legal technology tools—such as e-signing platforms, document automation, and AI-based contract analysis—would be advantageous. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across teams, including with colleagues in restructuring, real estate, and corporate finance, are key.
