Job summary

DWF is expanding its Commercial Insurance team in the property damage space and seeks a Solicitor or Associate to advise on first‑ and third‑party property damage, policy coverage and related recoveries. The role can be based in our Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool or Birmingham offices with hybrid working options.

You will manage a caseload, work with a prestigious client base, and collaborate on large loss matters while developing strong client relationships and supporting more junior colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Experience handling or supporting an insurance property related caseload (e.g., FPPD/TPPD).
  • Strong technical interest in commercial insurance matters.
  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines and manage complex issues.

DWF are expanding our Commercial Insurance team and we are seeking a Solicitor or Associate to advise in the field of property damage claims. The Commercial Insurance team work with a prestigious client base and handle a varied caseload of complex insurance‑related property disputes, including first‑party property damage (FPPD), third‑party property damage (TPPD), product liability, policy coverage, and subrogated recoveries.

This role can be based in any of our regional offices including Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool or Birmingham with the option of our hybrid working arrangement.

Responsibilities
  • To manage your own caseload of property related claims, and also assist as a part of a wider team on various large loss matters.
  • Understand client requirements and manage cases in line with service level agreements and best practice.
  • Analyse risk and further develop sound judgement enabling the justification of decisions to clients internally and externally.
  • Prioritise work effectively and to maximise efficiency in working practices.
  • Build working relationships internally and externally in order to develop business networks and create a solid understanding of the Firm’s direction and client needs.
  • To provide support and act as the 'go to person' for more junior members in the team.
What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential

  • Prior experience handling or assistant with an insurance property related caseload, including third‑party property damage and/or policy coverage, as well as product liability and subrogated recoveries.
  • Technical expertise and a strong interest in Commercial Insurance matters generally.
  • A proven track record of delivering results within strict deadlines and timeframes.
  • The ability to communicate and manage often complex issues for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • A self-motivated individual who can also effectively coach and develop others within the team.
