Job summary

Rushcliffe Borough Council is seeking an experienced solicitor to join our in-house Legal Services Team in Nottingham. The role focuses on non-contentious local government work, including contracts, procurement, planning and property matters, supporting senior officers and shaping council decisions.

Training is provided, local government experience is not essential, and flexible/part-time working options can be discussed to suit service needs.

Qualifications

• Experience as a solicitor with strong drafting and advisory skills.
• Ability to work in a public sector environment and to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-contentious local government legal advice on contracts, procurement, planning and property matters.
• Advise clients across the Council and support senior officers on policy and project work.
• Contribute to shaping council decisions through timely and practical legal guidance.

Job description

Salary: £41,784 - £48,150 per annum based on full time hours (Career graded post – progression through the grade is subject to completing at least 5 years PQE)

The Role:

You will work within a small and friendly in-house legal team providing advice and support across the Council. The key function of this role is to deal with non-contentious aspects of local government law, including contract, procurement, planning, and property related matters. You will work closely with clients across the Council including senior officers on some challenging and exciting projects and will play a pivotal role in helping us implement decisions which shape the future of Rushcliffe Borough Council.
