Job description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor to join a top-tier national law firm in their London office, specialising in complex and high-value clinical negligence cases. This is an ideal position for a Solicitor looking to develop their expertise in claimant medical negligence work within a highly regarded and supportive legal team.

As a Solicitor in this department, you will be working on a caseload that focuses exclusively on clinical negligence matters. The team is known for its dedication to access to justice and has a strong reputation for securing compensation for clients who have suffered life-altering injuries due to substandard medical treatment. The successful Solicitor will benefit from excellent mentorship and a culture centred on quality, empathy, and professionalism.

The Solicitor's role

The Solicitor will manage a caseload of claimant clinical negligence files, ranging from delayed diagnoses and surgical errors to birth injuries and fatal claims. You will handle matters from initial instruction through to settlement or trial, with support from experienced colleagues and access to leading medical experts and barristers.

The role involves close client contact and requires a Solicitor with a sensitive and confident approach, as well as the ability to build trust with individuals who have experienced trauma. Collaboration within the wider national team is encouraged, and you will be expected to share legal insights and contribute to best practices.

The Solicitor will ideally have:

  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with ideally 2-5 years' PQE

  • Solid experience handling claimant clinical negligence matters

  • Excellent communication, drafting and client care skills

  • Comfortable managing a caseload independently while seeking support where appropriate

  • Membership of relevant organisations such as APIL or AvMA is an advantage

In Return?

  • 48,000 - 60,000

  • Full benefits package including enhanced annual leave, healthcare, and pension

  • Hybrid working opportunities following probation

  • Strong career development support within a nationally respected firm

  • Exposure to high-profile and rewarding claimant clinical negligence cases
