Job Description:

A rapidly expanding real estate investments, portfolio company is seeking a commercially minded lawyer to join its dynamic business as its first legal counsel. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with investment and asset management teams on high-value UK and European real estate finance transactions.

The Opportunity:

This role offers a unique blend of strategic legal advisory and hands-on deal execution. The successful candidate will be embedded within the business, playing a key role in shaping legal strategy, managing risk, and driving commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear, high-quality legal advice across a broad range of real estate finance matters.
  • Lead legal aspects of deal execution, including due diligence, documentation, and stakeholder management.
  • Review, negotiate, and summarise complex loan agreements, contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Develop and implement legal policies, governance frameworks, and compliance procedures.
  • Train internal teams to identify and manage legal issues across the investment lifecycle.
  • Manage external counsel relationships, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.

You:

  • A qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE.
  • Strong background in UK and European real estate finance, debt finance, or structured finance.
  • Proven experience in reviewing and negotiating complex financial documents (senior/mezzanine loans, intercreditors, securitisations, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex legal issues for non-legal stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
