Job summary

The Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change seeks a Senior Legal Counsel (Sole Counsel) to lead all legal affairs, governance and compliance for the organisation. You will serve as the primary advisor to the CEO and Board, ensuring publications and communications are legally robust and suitable for sophisticated investor audiences.

You will handle contracts, data protection, regulatory filings and policy reviews, while coordinating with external counsel and the executive team.

Qualifications

Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent).
5–7+ years' post‑qualification experience in corporate, commercial or compliance law.
Ability to operate independently as a trusted legal advisor in a small/medium organisation.

Responsibilities

Support governance and prepare legal sections of board papers.
Oversee regulatory filings and data protection compliance (UK GDPR).
Review and edit investor-facing documents for clarity and regulatory risk.
Draft, review and negotiate contracts, NDAs, MoUs and other legal documents.
Provide concise legal advice to internal stakeholders and monitor regulatory developments.
Manage relationships with external counsel and support staff training on compliance matters.
