Job Description:

Our client is a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, currently seeking an experienced General Operator - Looming to perform manufacturing, self-certification duties, and sub-assembly components. This is an excellent opportunity to join leaders in missile and defence industries and grow within innovative initiatives.

The selected candidate will create certification procedures, set workmanship standards, and manage budgets and timelines to achieve project goals.

What we're looking for:

• Substantial expertise in soldering, looming, and wiring.
• Proficiency in dexterity for precise tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret layouts.
• Adherence to instructions.
• Flexibility to work varying shift patterns.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Completed ESD training.

Additional skills:

• PC literacy.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Potential department assignments include:

• Looming: binding wire looming for cable assembly, wiring, fiber optics cabling.
• PEC and CCA Assembly.
• Plastics Department: applying glues, cutting patterns, moulding.
• Manufacturing Control/Stores: kitting, SAP, goods inwards.
• Work under a microscope for most tasks.

Responsibilities as a General Operator (BA):

• Perform precise assembly and manufacturing tasks following procedures, quality standards, safety protocols, and deadlines.
• Streamline work and information flow in manufacturing.
• Adhere to standards and behaviors.
• Follow health and safety requirements.
• IPC 610 certification/training preferred.

Note: All employees must obtain the necessary clearance relevant to the role.

About the role:

MBDA has a 70+ year relationship with the UK military, delivering landmark defence engineering projects across land, sea, and air domains. The role is based at MBDA's headquarters in Stevenage, a key site for missile operations, with excellent transport links, an onsite gym, and coffee shop. Training and development are provided.
