Job description

About the role:
Astute's Renewables team is partnering with a key business and influential player in the global energy market. The company has a vast portfolio of renewable energy assets and a brilliant company culture of looking after their employees. We're looking for someone who already has experience in the utility scale solar sector but is also open to those with large rooftop experience.

This Field Service Technician / Solar Technician comes with an excellent salary, depending on your experience, with the chance of overtime, but with work-life balance being key for the client.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Area Manager you will:

  1. Ensure the best performance of large-scale solar assets.
  2. Perform operations and maintenance duties across the portfolio of solar sites in Chichester and the surrounding areas, perhaps travelling further on occasion for business need.
  3. Ensure adherence to all HSE requirements when completing your duties.
  4. Test both DC and AC systems, looking for faults and tracing issues.
  5. Conduct firmware updates and use computer systems to look for issues with the assets.
  6. Gain Authorised Person status after receiving training.
  7. Consistent inspection, maintenance, and testing of the systems.
  8. Look for trends and use data analysis to see if you can spot any common trends and suggest ways to improve operations as a result.
  9. Occasionally assist with tasks such as solar panel cleaning, some ground maintenance, and site CCTV.
  10. Be flexible to help when the business needs this.
Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  1. Level 3 in electrical installations as a minimum.
  2. 18th edition wiring regulations.
  3. Ideally, you will have C&G 2391 or equivalent.
  4. A HSE qualification is desired.
  5. Experience within a solar or BESS environment is hugely preferred.
  6. UK driving licence is essential.
Personal skills

The Solar Technician role would suit someone who is:

  1. Flexible with location and in travelling outside of your patch on occasion.
  2. Experienced in liaising with third parties and troubleshooting.
  3. Experienced in reading, writing, and assessing RAMS is hugely beneficial.
  4. Someone who wants to learn and make a genuine difference.
Salary and benefits of the Solar Technician role

A starting salary up to £40,000 depending on experience, bonus, overtime, and increased pay for on-call rota. PPE, toolkit, work van (for business purposes) provided and annual leave. Additional company benefits include 33 days holiday (including bank holidays) and a company pension.
